RateMyEspresso Rating: VERY SHITTY

Thoughts: Everything about this place and this espresso is wrong. Everything. Wow, this was shitty espresso. I basically had to spit it out, the flavor was so wrong. I was really in the mood for a great shot and this was like poison.

The bean was shitty, the machine was shitty, and the guy making the espresso was full of shit. After walking by the other day and seeing a line of people out to the door, I assumed this was going to be an obvious entry for the Good or Very Good Espressos.  Wow, what the hell are people doing drinking this swill for? Is it because you put some half-assed steamed milk art in your macchiato? I wish I knew.

Joe — you rank among the least artful espressos in the city (and in the world). If you were to open a store anywhere in Europe, you’d be laughed out business in five minutes.

And it is “CORTO” not “CORTADO,” jackass.

You clearly have a palate that is more accustomed to dark roasts. That’s fine. To each his or her own, however, this does not make different and lighter roasts straight up shitty. It is commonly known that the darker one roasts the beans, the less natural flavors found within the bean are left to shine through. you are tasting the roast, not the actual bean. Joe, and most of the places you have found to be very shitty, serve arabica, very high quality beans, so it is just straight up wrong to call the bean shitty. Their machine, ps, is the top of the line. It’s a 20,000 La Marzocco and they use one at all their stores. It’s commonly accepted as the best there is. You don’t have to like Joe and you may have gotten a bad drink, but to call their beans and their machine shitty is absurd.

Also, laughed out of Europe?? Why would Joe have the slightest concern about what Europeans would think? 1 – they exist in New York 2 – Contrary to popular belief, specialty coffee is an American creation.

At least be informed if you’re going to be a critic.
